Gade and Tine favourites to win Denmark Open

The two best Danish bids to win the Denmark Open in the single’s events - Peter Gade and Tine Rasmussen - now have an even bigger chances to win the Denmark Open.
This morning the tournament directors of the Denmark Open received a suspected withdrawal from all the Chinese players entered for the Denmark Open. A withdrawal coming just days before their expected arrival - and a withdrawal due to "fatigue" after the National Games in China.
This means that Peter Gade is the favourite to regain the Denmark Open men’s singles title, when he won’t be facing the Chinese superstar, Lin Dan.
- My preparations for this tournament do not change, although the Chinese are not coming. I will still do everything in my power to win the title again. It is obviously unfortunate that I - and the other Danes - do not get a chance to meet the Chinese players on home soil - and most of all pity for the tournament. I would have loved to face Lin Dan in a big tournament in Denmark. I believe that the withdrawal is beneath contempt and disrespectful towards the tournament. It is time that BWF will introduce some penalties in the future to ensure that this does not happen again, says Peter Gade.
In the Badminton Association of Denmark they are working hard to get the Chinese to come - and are linked in continuous dialogue with the Chinese and the international federation.
- We are obviously very disappointed with the suspected Chinese withdrawal. We also believe that the BWF should step up. It is a ticking bomb under the entire Super Series concept and makes it almost impossible to place and plan such a tournament. Of course we have already raised this matter directly to BWF, whom we are constantly in dialogue with, says Chief of Elite Sport, Finn Trærup-Hansen, and continues:
- We must realize that this time is not possible to measure the Danish player's strength against the Chinese, and try to turn it into something positive. The Danish players will now have a greater chance of winning the tournament, and there are still many strong foreign players participating in Denmark Open.
There will - if the Chinese do not change your mind - be made a new draw on Monday. Already, the tournament directors have revised the seedings for the single’s events in the tournament. This means, among other things, that Peter Gade and Tine Rasmussen both are seeded as number 1, Joachim Persson at number three and Jan Ø. Jørgensen is seeded number 7.
