The Board of Directors anticipates the conclusion of the special audit on or by 6 October 2008 based on the terms of engagement of Messrs Horwath for the special audit. The Board of Directors has been working closely with Messrs Horwath and will use its best endeavours to issue the Outstanding Financial Statements upon the completion of the special audit to resolve the outstanding unresolved audit issues raised by Messrs Horwath.   The Board of the Directors wishes to further announce that the Company will not be able to issue its Unaudited Quarterly Report for the first quarter ended 30 June 2008 and its 2008 Annual Report to the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (“Bursa Securities”) within the relevant timeframes as required pursuant to paragraphs 9.22(1) and 9.23(a) of the Listing Requirements of Bursa Securities (“Listing Requirements”) pending the finalisation of the Outstanding Financial Statements.  Pursuant to paragraph 9.26(4) of the Listing Requirements, if the Company fails to issue the Outstanding Financial Statements within three (3) months from 31 July 2008 (“the Suspension Deadline”), in addition to any enforcement action that Bursa Securities may take, Bursa Securities shall suspend trading in the securities of the Company. The suspension shall be effected on the market day following the expiry of the Suspension Deadline, and the suspension shall be lifted on the market day following the issuance of the Outstanding Financial Statements.

Axis: It's a full-year net  loss of RM68m

TEXTILE and garment maker Axis Incorporation Bhd (7447)said it has made a net loss of RM68.44 million for the year ended March2008, instead of a net profit of RM16.1 million reported earlier in Maythis year.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Axissaid the key factors leading to the downward revision includedunderstatement of sales costs, allowance for doubtful debts,overprovision of current and deferred taxes, provision for cost ofsales and unrealised profit on fabrics held by certain contractmanufacturers.

Axis has come under scrutiny from Bursa Malaysiaafter failing several times to submit its financial statements forfinancial year 2008, which had been due on July 31.

It had alsobeen queried by the exchange after one of its announcements on itsinability to close its accounts was preceded by a massive plunge in itsshare price.
  Axis' external auditors, the company said in the announcement, were unable to verify two financial matters.

First was the recoverability of the outstanding balances of aboutRM58.76 million due from certain contract manufacturers. The other wasthe recoverability of the net balance of the prepayments made tosuppliers amounting to RM24.54 million.

In a separateannouncement, Axis said it had finally submitted its FY08 accountyesterday and was finalising the submission of its first quarter endedJune 30 2008 accounts.
