ManUtd.com journalist Ben Hibbs on the importance of a firing Wayne Rooney...
Like last season, there will surely only be one name adorning the ever-growing list of Player of the Year trophies come the end of the current campaign.
Voting began on ManUtd.com this week for the Reds’ annual awards ceremony and, for some, the decision is so straightforward there’s barely any point going through the whole rigmarole (of course, we want you to! Vote now at ManUtd.com/awards).
Cristiano Ronaldo’s 36 goals and glorious repertoire of skills will mean the Portuguese winger will sweep all before him. No question, he deserves it. But, in my view, there’s one player that will now make the difference between this being a good season and a great one. Wayne Rooney may have less than half Ronaldo's goals this season (16). But if Ronaldo is the team’s magician, Rooney is its driving force; if Cristiano is the quick feet, Rooney is the heartbeat.
Look at the Reds' four league defeats this term. One thing is missing - Rooney. He characterises the team's blend of subtle technique and controlled aggression. With three goals in two games, Wayne has (hopefully) hit top form at exactly the right time, and Rooney at the peak of his powers makes United's attacking play flow. A run like last season’s eight goals in eight games in April could fire the Reds towards Premier League and Champions League success.
The beauty, of course, is United have both players. But while Ronaldo’s brilliance will always earn the top awards, Rooney’s influence is every bit as pivotal.

Maturing Rooney so unselfish
Wayne Rooney’s unselfishness and commitment to United’s cause has not gone unnoticed by Sir Alex Ferguson, who believes the Reds forward has proved what a great player he is in recent weeks.
Rooney played wide on the left against AS Roma in the 2-0 first leg win at the Stadio Olimpico, before reverting to his customary striker role in the second half.
He duly scored United’s second away goal, but Sir Alex was equally impressed with the 22-year-old’s first-half performance.
The forward has displayed a broad range of qualities lately, most recently in helping to haul United level against Middlesbrough on Sunday.
To Sir Alex, it’s a sign of his still-blossoming potential. “He’s only 22,” said the Reds boss. “At that age you are still waiting for the completion and fulfilment of potential. That will happen in the next two or three years.
“What his performance in Rome demonstrated was the sacrifice he makes for the team.
“He forfeited his normal position in the side to work for the team. That was an indication of a great player. Sacrifice is an important factor in any good team.”
Rooney has also rediscovered his goalscoring form. He has scored four goals in his last three games which, added to his tireless effort, determination, vision, passing and superb link-up play, make his performances very nearly complete.

鲁尼在场上的大局观、无私和全身心投入在曼联的年轻球员中是首屈一指的，弗格森是看在眼里喜在心里，他认为鲁尼在最近几周证明了自己是一名伟大的球员。
上周中曼联做客2-0击败罗马，鲁尼开场后踢的位置是左边前卫，弗格森没有安排C罗踢边路，因为鲁尼的防守更加积极，可以协助左边的埃夫拉遏制罗马的边路进攻。本场比赛曼联把防守反击的战术发挥得淋漓尽致，鲁尼的积极奔跑功不可没。
下半场鲁尼挪回到中路，并抓住罗马门将多尼的失误锁定胜局，但弗格森对鲁尼上半场的不断回防以及他为全队做出的牺牲更加印象深刻。
“他在对罗马比赛中的重要性诠释了他为全队做出的牺牲。他离开了自己熟悉的位置，为了全队而挪到边路。那证明了他是一名伟大的球员，在任何球队个人牺牲都是一个重要的因素。”

鲁尼与科琳已经注册结婚 登记表格竟拼写错职业
曼联球星鲁尼已经和女友科琳注册，但在登记表中，鲁尼的工作竟然出现了低级的拼写错误……
鲁尼在克鲁签了终身合同！不过，鲁尼显然并非签约加盟在英甲苦苦挣扎的克鲁竞技，而只是在克鲁的婚姻注册处，与同样是22岁的女友科琳注册登记。
虽然鲁尼和科琳都是利物浦人，将在意大利举行婚礼。但根据英国法律，他们目前住在柴郡，因此需要在此处的行政中心，也就是克鲁登记。
两人的婚礼要在6月12日进行，他们肯定希望到时的情况，不会出现两人的注册登记表上的意外。因为在他们的等级表格中，鲁尼的职业变成了“proffesional” footballer(职业足球员，正确拼写应是professional footballer)。
鲁尼，职业拼写错
一个登记处的官员表示：“他们俩都在登记员面前签了这份表格，按照国家规定，他们结婚的时候将结婚预告公告是必需的程序。”
鲁尼和科琳的婚礼将在6月份在意大利地中海岸边正式举行，届时将只有60名亲密的亲戚和朋友出席。其他人，则可以参加回到英国举行的第二次婚宴。

不过算了啦..最重要还是接下来的比赛啊
