Execution of Memorandum of Understanding with Sarawak Energy Berhad

Sime Darby Berhad (formerly known as Synergy Drive Bhd) Execution of Memorandum of Understanding with Sarawak Energy Berhad Sime Darby Berhad ("Sime Darby") wishes to announce that it had, on 11th February 2008, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") with Sarawak Energy Berhad ("SEB") to formalise their intention to co-operate with each other in undertaking the implementation of the proposed 8 x 300MW Bakun Hydroelectric Power Plant and the construction of the transmission lines, including the dual submarine transmission cables to link the power plant and the transmission link to Peninsular Malaysia. The execution of the MOU is not expected to have a material effect on the earnings or net assets of the Sime Darby Berhad Group for the year ending 30th June 2008. None of the Directors or substantial shareholders of Sime Darby or persons connected to them has any interest, direct or indirect, in the MOU. This announcement is dated 11th February 2008.
