Iris gets RM30.76m job with US-based Trijay

Iris Corporation Bhd has secured an US$8.8 million (RM30.76 million) contract with US-based Trijay Technologies International Corporation to supply highly secured mobile authentication and verification mobile terminals. In a statement on Feb 14, Iris said the contract involves the supply of its mobile smart terminals, the ST4eX and ST4i, over a 24-month period. Trijay is granted the exclusive right to sell the ST4i model for three years. Iris said the Windows.CE-based ST4eX handheld reader was used for reading or verifying data in smart cards. “The built-in Secure Access Module supports the use of digital keys for card schemes requiring high-security while the GSM/GPRS module provides mobility for high-speed data transfer and voice calls over mobile networks,” it said. The company said the ST4i had similar features to the ST4eX but could also read and write to iCLASS-issue smart cards, read biometric fingerprint data, and enable validation of cards. Iris managing director Datuk Tan Say Jim said the partnership demonstrated the company’s ability to deliver high security devices, which are essential for the deployment of any identity-based management solutions. Trijay was formed in June 1993 with the intent to develop, produce and market a system for integrating fingerprint biometrics technology with transaction and ID card media.
