新教练 Corbin 主场第一胜。。。 恭喜恭喜!

Jefferson, Bell lift Jazz over Kings 109-102 in OT

Posted Mar 06 2011 1:15AM
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) For the Jazz, just getting a win in front of their fans was more than enough.

Al Jefferson scored 27 points and Raja Bell had two crucial jumpers and a steal in overtime to help the Utah Jazz hold off the Sacramento Kings 109-102 Saturday night to stop their home losing streak at seven games.

"Oh man, to get a win, in any kind of way, is a sense of relief for us," said coach Ty Corbin, who won his first home game as head coach. "The guys have been busting their butts, and it's good to finally get a reward at the end."

After the Jazz lost Paul Millsap to injury, Jefferson scored six points in overtime and Utah outscored the Kings 10-2 after Francisco Garcia started overtime with a 3-pointer.

"Everybody in the gym knew they were going to Jefferson. He delivered more often than not and that was huge for them," Sacramento coach Paul Westphal said.

What was less expected was the clutch shooting of Bell, who scored 16 points and made the second of back-to-back jumpers with 17 seconds remaining to put the Jazz up 105-100.

"It feels good. It was especially good for us to play another close one and figure out how to get over the hump late in the game," Bell said. The Jazz had lost three in a row overall by five points or less.

DeMarcus Cousins had 18 points and 18 rebounds and Garcia returned from 21 games on the sidelines to add 18, but the Kings lost for the fourth time in their last five.

"Just couldn't pull it out. It's a tough place to play for a lot of reasons," Cousins said, "but they just beat us down the stretch and I missed some key free throws,"

Cousins was 6 of 11 from the line and missed two foul shots in overtime.

Marcus Thornton, who scored 22 points, made a 3-pointer from the left angle with 14.1 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 95.

Jefferson, who tipped in his own miss with 25 seconds left, misfired on a baseline jumper with five seconds to play in regulation. Udrih raced to the other end but his 29-foot desperation runner rimmed out.

Even before longtime coach Jerry Sloan abruptly resigned and Deron Williams was traded to New Jersey, the Jazz were struggling at home. Since beating Charlotte 83-78 on Jan. 31, the Jazz had lost seven straight in Salt Lake - their longest home skid since dropping a club-record 12 consecutive games from Feb. 15-March 29, 1982.

"I didn't even realize we lost that many games at home until I saw it flash across the bottom on ESPN. Our fans don't deserve that. They've been too good to us," Jefferson said.

Omri Casspi missed the game because of a sore back so the Kings started a big lineup with Dalembert, Cousins and Green - all 6-foot-11 and taller than anyone in Utah's starting frontcourt.

The Kings outrebounded Utah, 50-47, but had a tough time guarding Jefferson down the stretch without Dalembert, who fouled out in regulation.

The Jazz blocked 13 shots and made 12 steals and allowed the Kings just one field goal in a 3:56 span of the extra period.

Sacramento's Beno Udrih had 16 points as he and Thornton found ways to get shots when the Jazz focused on Cousins. Thornton is averaging more than 21 points in five games since New Orleans traded him to Sacramento.

Cousins punctuated a 13-2 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters with a follow dunk at the 8:41 mark to make 83-74 for the Kings.

The Jazz struck back with a 12-1 surge to put them back in front. The run was capped with Jefferson's jumper with 4:05 to go.

"We had that lead, but they basically got three layups off our mistakes," Udrih said. "They got back in the game, got a lift and woke up the crowd. Then, they just brought it home."

Notes: Kyrylo Fesenko left the game in the fourth quarter with back spasms after four minutes of play. ... Four other Sacramento players - DeMarcus Cousins (left shoulder strain), Samuel Dalembert (right knee), Jason Thompson (ankles) and Beno Udrih (left thigh bruise) - were all on the pregame injury list but did play. ... Jazz C Francisco Elson also twisted his knee but continued to play and finished with a season-high nine rebounds and a key block. ... Utah is 4-0 in overtime and the Kings are 0-5.

爵士终于决定加人了:Marcus Cousin 来增加禁区人手

The Jazz called up center/forward Marcus Cousin from the Development League’s Austin Toros on Tuesday, The Salt Lake Tribune learned. The 6-foot-11, 245-pound product of the University of Houston has been signed to a 10-day contract and will be in uniform Wednesday night for a road game against the Toronto Raptors.

Jefferson scores 34 as Jazz rally to beat Raptors

Posted Mar 09 2011 11:11PM
TORONTO (AP) The struggling Utah Jazz needed someone to come through in the clutch. Al Jefferson fit the role perfectly.

Jefferson scored 34 points, including a game-winning basket at the buzzer, and the Jazz rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Toronto 96-94 on Wednesday, extending their winning streak over the Raptors to 12 games.

"It's a perfect example there that you're never out of the game, no matter how many points you get down," Jefferson said. "You've just got to keep playing, give it all you got and you never know how things will turn around for you."

C.J. Miles and Devin Harris each scored 23 points for Utah, which has not lost to the Raptors since a 98-86 defeat in Toronto on Dec. 22, 2004.

Tied 94-all with 17 seconds to play, the Jazz held the ball until Harris drove for a layup. His shot missed but Jefferson tipped the shot back in as the horn sounded.

"I had a good look, but Big Al came out of nowhere like Superman," Harris said.

Jefferson saw it as something else.

"I just got my hand on the ball and I tipped it up," he said. "The basketball God was on our side tonight, that's all I've got to say."

The Jazz started walking off the floor in celebration before the referees called them back to review the play. The basket was ruled good and the game was over.

DeMar DeRozan scored 17 points and Sonny Weems had 16 as Toronto lost for the fifth time in six games. Jose Calderon scored 14 points and Ed Davis had 12 for the Raptors, who have lost 22 of 26.

The Jazz, who had lost nine of 11 entering the game, trailed 86-72 with 8:21 to play before turning it around behind 10 fourth quarter points from Miles, including back-to-back 3-pointers.

A jump shot by Weems put the Raptors up by 14 before consecutive baskets from Miles sparked the Utah comeback.

After a basket from Leandro Barbosa, consecutive 3-pointers from Earl Watson and Harris trimmed it to 88-82 with 5:00 remaining.

Weems made a pair of free throws but Miles hit 3s on back-to-back trips, cutting it to 90-88 with 3:25 to play.

DeRozan made one of two from the line but a driving layup from Harris and a rebound and layup by Jefferson gave Utah a 92-91 lead. After Calderon missed a 3, Jefferson hit a turnaround jumper, putting the Jazz up 94-91 with a minute to play.

Barbosa's 3 tied it with 43 seconds left, but Jefferson's efforts gave Utah an important win as they chase the West's final playoff spot.

"Tonight was a big win for us," Utah's Raja Bell said. "That was huge having been down (14) in the fourth quarter and finding a way to gut that out. That was big for a team like us that really needed a win."

Paul Millsap (left knee) and Andrei Kirilenko (back), who both left Monday's loss at New York, did not start for Utah. Rookie Jeremy Evans made his first career start in place of Millsap, with Miles taking Kirilenko's spot.

The injury-ravaged Jazz were also without Francisco Elson (left knee), Mehmet Okur (back) and Ronnie Price (right foot).

Kyrylo Fesenko, who had missed four of the previous six games with a sore back, returned to Utah's lineup.

Toronto was without leading scorer Andrea Bargnani, who was away from the team with flulike symptoms. Davis started in Bargnani's place.

Toronto's Reggie Evans, who had 11 rebounds, returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a broken bone in his right foot in a Nov. 26 loss at Boston.

"He was a little rusty but I was pleased with his energy and his effort," Raptors coach Jay Triano said.

Toronto lost Amir Johnson to a sprained left ankle midway through the first quarter when he landed on Utah's Derrick Favors and fell to the ground in pain. After icing the ankle, Johnson was evaluated at the half but did not return.

Miles scored 11 points in the first and Jefferson added 10 as the Jazz overcame an early seven-point deficit to lead 31-26 after 12 minutes.

Toronto took the lead with a 17-7 run to start the second before Utah recovered, with the Jazz holding a narrow 52-50 lead at the half. DeRozan and Weems each scored seven points in the second for the Raptors.

The Jazz missed 10 of 11 shots over the final five minutes of the third, with Toronto using a 14-2 run over that span to take a 78-70 lead into the fourth.

Notes: Jefferson had eight rebounds. ... Utah F Marcus Cousins, who signed a 10-day contract Tuesday, made his Jazz debut but didn't even have a name stitched on the back of his jersey. ... Raptors C Alexis Ajinca (right knee) did not play. ... Toronto assigned C Solomon Alabi to Erie of the D-League. ... The Raptors, in their 16th season, had never faced a Jazz team coached by anyone other than Jerry Sloan.

Love, Beasley lead Timberwolves in rout of Jazz

By JON KRAWCZYNSKI
Posted Mar 11 2011 11:32PM
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves are finally starting to show a few signs of putting something together as another long, miserable season winds down.

And it looks as if the Utah Jazz are falling apart just in time to let a playoff spot slip away.

Love had 24 points and 12 rebounds and the Timberwolves rolled to a 122-101 victory over the sputtering Jazz on Friday night.

Love extended the longest double-double streak since 1973-74 to 53 straight games and Michael Beasley scored 23 points for the Timberwolves, who snapped an incredible 20-game losing streak to Northwest Division opponents.

"This means something for us, especially at this time of the year," said Darko Milicic, who had 14 points and six rebounds and shut down Utah's Al Jefferson. "It's almost the end of the season and we're kind of a struggling team that's not going to make the playoffs. We all know that. We know we're going to go home April 13.

"It shows something about us that we can come out against teams fighting for playoff spots and give them a good fight."

Gordon Hayward scored 18 points for the new-look Jazz, who have lost 10 of their last 13 games and are in danger of falling out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference.

The Jazz are 3-6 since trading starting point guard Deron Williams and are looking a little lost without longtime leader Jerry Sloan, who resigned as coach on Feb. 10.

Their latest loss was their worst yet. The Jazz were down 19 points in the second quarter, got within two points in the third, and then were run out of the building by Beasley and Love in the final 4 1/2 minutes of the period.

The Timberwolves closed the third quarter on a 20-5 run during which Love grabbed a rebound to extend his streak and then hit a 3-pointer on the other end to make it 97-72 going into the fourth.

It doesn't get any easier for the Jazz with a game at Chicago on Saturday night.

"We go in there and play like that again, we're going to lose by 60," said Jazz forward C.J. Miles, who scored 15 points. "I'm just being honest.

"(Chicago) seems like as good of a team in the league right now and they're playing basketball, they're playing well. If guys thought this was embarrassing, we go in there like that, it's going to be bad. I-don't-even-know-how-to-put-it-in-words bad."

It was the second straight blowout victory for the Timberwolves (17-50), who beat the Pacers by 26 points on Wednesday and have now won consecutive games for just the fourth time all season. They have two straight wins by at least 20 points for the first time since 2001.

Jefferson, who was traded from Minnesota to Utah in the summer, had nine points on 4 for 13 shooting and nine rebounds against his former team. He entered the night averaging 28 points per game since the All-Star break, which was tied with Amare Stoudemire for tops in the league.

"Minnesota was playing like they were the ones fighting for a playoff spot. We didn't," Jefferson said. "I take it on myself."

The Jazz were missing big man Paul Millsap for the second game in a row because of left knee tendinitis, and it certainly showed early. Millsap averaged 26.5 points and 9.5 rebounds against the Wolves in the first two games of the season, and the Jazz looked soft without their best banger.

The Timberwolves hit their first 11 shots and shot 75 percent in the first quarter, the surest sign yet that these aren't Sloan's Jazz anymore.

Rose, Deng score 26 as Bulls beat Jazz 118-100By ANDREW SELIGMAN
Posted Mar 13 2011 12:08AM
CHICAGO (AP) Right from the start, Joakim Noah could sense it.
Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were on hand to celebrate that first championship, so he knew this was no ordinary game.
It was no ordinary performance, either.
With the past champions watching, the Chicago Bulls again looked like they're bent on claiming their own spot in franchise history.
Derrick Rose and Luol Deng each scored 26 points, and Chicago ran away with its 13th win in 15 games, all but grabbing a share of the Eastern Conference lead with an easy 118-100 victory over the Utah Jazz on Saturday.
Rose scored 17 points in a blistering first quarter as the Bulls grabbed a 37-17 lead, and Chicago set a franchise record with 18 3-pointers while pulling within percentage points of Boston.
"It's huge," Noah said. "We understand that."
It was a championship-level performance - in the first half, at least - on a night when Chicago celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first title. With Jordan, Pippen and other players and coaches from that team on hand for a halftime ceremony, the Bulls put on a show the old-timers could appreciate.
"We're definitely not even close to where they were, but we're trying to get there," Deng said.
Rose, the All-Star point guard and MVP candidate, buried 5 of 11 3-pointers.
Deng added seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in another strong game despite a bruised left thigh. Joakim Noah contributed 16 points and nine rebounds, Kyle Korver scored 17, and C.J. Watson added 16 points and eight assists. The Bulls shot 52.6 percent overall, hitting 18 of 32 3-pointers, and won again even though Carlos Boozer missed his second game in as many nights with a sprained left ankle.
"They're playing championship-caliber basketball right now," Utah's Devin Harris said. "Derrick is playing great leading those guys and everyone else is playing their role and doing it well.
Al Jefferson had 33 points and 18 rebounds, Harris scored 24, but the Jazz fell for the 10th time in 13 games since Jerry Sloan stepped down as coach. It probably didn't help that Paul Millsap missed his third straight game with tendinitis in his left knee, but either way, Utah has problems.
"I'm certain they haven't quit," coach Tyrone Corbin said. "We have some chemistry issues."
Jefferson criticized the effort on defense after his team got blown out for the second straight night and the third time in four games, saying, "I don't know what it is. I can't put my finger on it. Let teams come out and do what they want to do on the offensive end."
The Jazz fell by 21 at Minnesota on Friday and were no match for the Central division champions.

开玩笑嘛,别太认真~!我们三个几时有离开过爵士队呢?
球迷就是要支持到底的嘛, ...

76ers 107, Jazz 112

Posted Mar 15 2011 12:06AM
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Andrei Kirilenko scored seven of his 16 points in overtime to lead the short-handed Utah Jazz to a 112-107 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.

The Jazz led by as many as 21 points in the second quarter, 18 in the third and 15 in the fourth before Philadelphia rallied. The Sixers had a 103-101 lead with 11.5 seconds left in regulation thanks to a 14-point quarter by Andre Iguodala.

But C.J. Miles' driving layup tied it and Iguodala missed what would have been the game-winner.

Kirilenko then took over, hitting a 3-pointer, putback dunk and two free throws to seal the win.

The Sixers haven't won in Utah since Jan. 5, 2005, losing 10 of the last 12 overall against the Jazz.

Al Jefferson led the Jazz with 30 points and 17 rebounds, including 11 defensive boards.

Rookie forward Derrick Favors, making his first start in place of the injured Paul Millsap, added 11 points, six boards, two assists and a steal for the Jazz.

Iguodala led Philadelphia with 23 points, while reserves Lou Williams added 22 and Thaddeus Young 10. Elton Brand started slowly for the Sixers, hitting just 1 of 7 shots in the first half before finishing with 19. Jodie Meeks added 17 as five Philadelphia players scored in double figures.

It wasn't enough against Utah.

Jazz coach Ty Corbin started Favors to give Utah a defensive boost after seeing his team give up 39 points in the first quarter against Minnesota on Friday and 37 Saturday night at Chicago.

The Jazz ended up losing those two games by a combined 39 points.

Favors started strong with three rebounds, two assists, two points and a steal in the first six minutes, but he picked up two quick fouls.

Still, the Jazz led 28-23 after one, and 60-42 at halftime.

The Jazz were without Millsap for the fourth straight game because of a knee injury. Reserves Ronnie Price, Mehmet Okur and Francisco Elson continued to be inactive, while rookie Gordon Hayward was in street clothes Monday night because of a foot injury.

Guard Raja Bell did not start because of a toe injury but he entered in the second quarter and contributed five points, four rebounds, and one assist.

In the fourth quarter, the Jazz also lost starting point guard Devin Harris, who left with a hamstring injury and did not return.

Notes: Jazz coach Ty Corbin said X-rays taken Monday morning on Hayward's left foot were negative for a stress fracture. Gordon will continue to receive treatment. ... The Sixers scored just 19 points in the second quarter.

Miles scores career-high 40, Jazz rip Wolves

Posted Mar 16 2011 11:41PM
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) C.J. Miles scored a career-high 40 points and cemented his new starting role as the Utah Jazz cruised to a 119-104 victory Wednesday night over the Minnesota Timberwolves, giving Ty Corbin his first back-to-back wins as coach.

The game was almost a complete reversal of Friday night's matchup, when the Timberwolves made their first 11 shots en route to a 121-101 rout in Minnesota.

On Wednesday, Miles hit his first seven shots, including four from 3-point range, for 18 points in the opening quarter. His only miss came at the buzzer with a defender in his face.

Kevin Love led Minnesota with 22 points and 11 rebounds, but he got going too late to help the Timberwolves, who have dropped two straight.

The Jazz were coming off a 112-107 overtime win Monday night against Philadelphia.

With forward Paul Millsap still out with a knee injury, rookie Derrick Favors made his second straight start.

But it was Miles who had the biggest impact.

He started again in place of veteran Raja Bell as Corbin tried to mix things up to get Utah going early. It worked, as Miles scored from outside and with strong moves to the basket.

Miles finished 14 of 18 overall and 6 of 7 from 3-point range. He had 25 points by halftime.

Utah held a 38-18 advantage in the paint at halftime and led, 71-50. The 71 first-half points were a season high. The Jazz shot 62.2 percent in the first half, while holding the Wolves to 35.6 shooting.

The Jazz led by as many as 26 in the first half, and 24 in the third quarter before Minnesota cut Utah's lead to 92-80 entering the fourth quarter.

The Wolves were within 10 points before Al Jefferson (26 points) and Andrei Kirilenko (15 points) made key plays for the Jazz.

Love, who saw his franchise-record streak of 53 consecutive double-doubles come to an end in Sunday's loss at Golden State, had only two rebounds at halftime.

Favors set the tone early by blocking a shot by Michael Beasley. By halftime, the Jazz had six block shots, four by Jefferson, who was a rebound shy of a double-double heading into the locker room.

The game was tied at 32 with 39 seconds left in the first quarter after Martell Webster hit a 3-pointer for the Minnesota. But Miles hit his fourth straight 3-pointer to start a 10-0 run that extended into the second quarter.

Rookies Gordon Hayward and Jeremy Evans kept things rolling for the Jazz in the second quarter. Hayward made two passes inside to Jefferson for dunks, and Evans dunked off a powerful move to the basket to give the Jazz 42-32 lead.

Reserve guard Earl Watson then hit a short jumper and threw up an alley-oop to Evans, whose dunk made it 46-36, Utah.

Back-to-back dunks by Favors and Kirilenko boosted Utah's lead to 15 points, and Miles converted a three-point play for a 60-40 Jazz lead with 3:58 left in the half.

The 17-2 run continued with two more three-point plays by Jefferson.

The effort provided the Jazz with a measure of hope that they still might make the playoffs. They were in 10th in the Western Conference standings entering the game and expect to get Millsap back from a knee injury Sunday at Houston.

While he may be back in the starting lineup, Corbin has found another guard in Miles.

Even Bell, while not happy Tuesday with the way he was informed of the switch, admitted that Miles is a better player in a starting role.
