韩国2支组合都很强,而且很年轻,体力也很好......我觉得陈古应该仔细研究他们,除了印尼组合,他们是最强的对手....... |

All England
Top guns are set for world class meet in England
23-Feb-2007
The seeding and the draw of the All England badminton championships once again prove how mythical this tournament is with all top stars making the trip to Birmingham for the third leg of the Super Series event.
As usually since the first leg of the new Super Series format, the fact that only 8 players are seeded will once again give some extraordinary first rounds. This time, the unlucky player is Hafiz Hashim of Malaysia, who will have to play Olympic Champion Taufik Hidayat for his first match in Birmingham. The bad news is that Hafiz, winner here in 2003, has never beaten the Indonesian wonder and worst of all, Taufik has made known his full focus to win this All England Championship – the only title which has eluded him until now. This part of the draw could see 4 Malaysians next to each other – another specific rule of the Super series which cancelled the Nationality split in the draws - should Wong Choong Hann survive the qualification round. He would then play his compatriot, in form Lee Tsuen Seng of Kuala Lumpur Racket Club. As if fate wasn’t tough enough on Malaysian shuttlers, Hafiz’s brother, Roslin, is set to play top seed and world champion Lin Dan of China. Chen Jin, second seed will start off his journey against England’s Andrew Smith before a probable quarter final clash with Denmark’s big guy Kenneth Jonassen. Lee Chong Wei on his side will take on India’s Chetan Anand who was surprisingly defeated in his National games this past week-end.
Peter Gade, also seeded 3/4th is still unbeaten in 2007 as he flew directly home after his impressive success in the Malaysia Open, in order to prepare well for this All England. The Dane kicks off against Dutch Palyama for a tricky round even if the Dane has been unbeaten in Europe for a long time. Another good match to watch on round one will be the tie between Ronald Susilo and Bao Chunlai. The only top player missing this year is last year’s runner up Lee Hyun Il of Korea, who recently stunned the world by announcing his retirement, just like Chen Hong, who will also be missing the great event.
In the ladies single event, where, for the first time no English girl is part of the main draw after the retirement from Julia Mann and Tracey Hallam’s injury, Judith Meulendijks once again will have to face one of the top two seeds – this time Xie Xingfang just like in Korea, with the hopes to trouble her just as in the last Uber Cup in Japan. Tough first round for 5/8th seed Yao Jie who is to play China’s Jiang – one of the rising stars. The match of the round will no doubt be the one opposing Lu Lan to Wong Mew Choo, recent runner up in Malaysia.
Indonesia fills the road of new stars Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong who lead the Super Series Challenge in spite of their low world ranking. This time, if the new Malaysian duo escaped the qualifying rounds, will have their road filled with Indonesian fighters. Starting with Sigit Budiarto and Fran Kurniawan who have left PBSI and will represent their club Djarum (as will Hian and Sukmawan). Then probably awaits another strong pair : Yulianto and Hadiyanto (if they beat Hong Kong players Njoto and Wiratama). There will be no easy matches in the first rounds : Paaske/Rasmussen, newly crowned National champions in Denmark and former world champs will have to face Indonesia’s best Kido and Setiawan while local hopes Blair and Clark, runners up in Madrid, will face Choong and Lee of Malaysia who will have at heart to prove their worth after their coach Rexy Mainaky recently gave them an ultimatum for better results. Top seeds Fu and Cai play the ever fighting Japanese Ohtsuka and Masuda while Eriksen and Lundgaard in the lower half face Singapore’s Saputra and Wijaya.
The favourites to take the mixed double crown may not be the ones with a seeding star before their names : Zheng Bo and Gao Ling may have only played for few weeks as a pair, yet they are simply unbeaten with back to back victories in the Asian Games last December, and then the first two legs of the Super Series. Their main contestants could be England’s Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms, winners in 2005, runners up in 2006 when they lost to Gao and former partner Zhang Jun. And the two pairs could meet as early as the quarter final for a revenge of the Malaysian Open final. Top seeds Widianto and Natsir have a tricky round against Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh and Chien before an expected quarter final against Korea’s Lee and Lee unless the latter are beaten by Singapore’s Saputra and Li if they lived up to their seeded status. The match of the round will see second seeds Xie and Zhang against the new and upcoming pair from Denmark, Fischer-Nielsen and Andersen.
Last but not least, the ladies double event could see Gao Ling and Huang Sui win a fourth title in a row in England. They seem to be unbeatable on English soil even if they have shared most of badminton’s glory with their compatriots Yang and Zhang for the past few years. As world champions, Gao and Huang will be entering the event as top seed against local duo Nicholas and Munt and should have a rather smooth ride until the semi final, where they are likely to meet either compatriots Wei/Zhang or England’s Emms and Kelloggs. Yet, in the second round, the latter have to be aware of the newer pair of Marissa and Polii who have started playing together for only few weeks and achieved already to win a silver medal in the first leg of the Super Series, in Malaysia. The draw has been hard on China’s fourth pair of Du and Yu who are to play Korea’s Lee Hyo Jung and Lee Kyung Won who hadn’t left the top 5 pairs in the world before Hyo Jung injured herself badly last year, resulting in a huge drop in the world ranking.
