Fiorentina progressed to the Champions League group stages on the away goals ruling.
Sebastien Frey - 5.5 - Solid enough. Looked very erratic at times but did what was needed when he was called upon. Distribution could have been better.
Gianluca Comotto - 5.5 - Grew into the game but did not make a massive impact. Made some big strong headers to clear danger at key times.
Dario Danielli - 5 - Virtually non-existent in the first half but held the defence together well in the second. Snuffed out danger well on a few occasions.
Allesandro Gamberini - 5 - Gave away the free kick that allowed Sporting to take the lead. Played well in the second half when Sporting threw on more and more attacking players.
Massimo Gobbi - 5 - Can feel unlucky to have been taken off. Someone had to make way at half time but his forward runs helped provide Juan Vargas with another option.
Marco Marchionni - 5 - Very disappointing game. Only had a hand full of touches in the entire 90 minutes and failed to make any impact.
Cristiano Zanetti - 6 - Did well to get stuck in at the start of the second half. His aggression was needed to compliment the flair around him after the break.
Riccardo Montolivo - 5 - Failed to get stuck in during the first half when his side needed him to. Has a very good pass on him but his awareness let him down more than once.
Juan Vargas - 7 - Always in the game. Made numerous runs down the left wing and delivered some good crosses. Would have been a tragedy were he on the losing side.
Adrian Mutu - 5.5 - Disappointing game that was capped when he was taken off. Looked lively when there was the chance of a ball in behind.
Alberto Gilardino - 6.5 - Worked very hard. Quality of touch and finish could have been better at times but he worked the defence well all night long.
Substitutes
Stevan Jovetic - 7 - Changed the game when he came on. Looked lively, quick and was always bringing other players into the action. Took his goal very well.

SPORTING CP
Rui Patricio - 5.5 - Did not really have a lot to do and got down well to make some routine saves. Could not do much with the goal.
Pedro Silva - 6 - Got forward well and although he lacked quality at times he held the team together. Provided support for the right winger more than once.
Daniel Carrico - 5.5 - Played quite well in the first half to make last ditch tackles. Distribution was poor and passing could have improved.
Anderson Polga - 6 - Had a brilliant first half and kept out both Mutu and Gilardino. His name was rarely mentioned in the second, which will be disappointing to him.
Andre Marques - 5 - A big, strong presence but nothing more. Failed to cope when he was left one on one against a quicker player.
Matias Fernandez - 5.5 - Made some lovely runs in the first half that opened up space for players but was eclipsed when Fiorentina brought on stronger men, hence he was taken off.
Miguel Veloso - 7 - Unlucky not to have gone through with his side. His passing, tackling and vision were as good as anyone else on the pitch.
Bruno Pereirinha - 5 - Struggled to make any impact. Could have made some over-lapping runs to help out the front pair but was pegged back easily.
Joao Moutinho - 6.5 - Took his goal tremendously. Showed very good spacial awareness and has a crisp pass. It was no surprise that this man was standing over every single Sporting free kick.
Liedson - 6 - Worked his socks off but could not make any impact. Lacked confidence in front of goal and scuffed a couple of shots.
Yannick Djalo - 6 - Same as above. Made some very good runs that saw him dancing past players but there is no end product, which would turn him into a majestic player.
