SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Deron Williams came up with an All-Star caliber performance to help Utah snap a four-game losing streak. With rosters already set for Phoenix, it'll have to do. Williams had 24 points and 12 assists and the Utah Jazz snapped a four-game losing streak with a 110-90 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night. "I think he should have been an All-Star,'' said the Thunder's Kevin Durant, who also missed the cut. "He's a motivator for this team and they have a great team. He's playing great this year and he played really well tonight. "He is a tough guy to guard.'' Williams was on the 2005-06 All-Rookie First Team and was selected to the All-NBA Second Team after last season but he has never played in an All-Star game. When the selections were announced this week, Williams name was left off again. "Its tough but I wasnt really worried about it. I could use the rest and get off my feet and relax,'' Williams said. Mehmet Okur scored 20 points and Paul Millsap added 16 points, nine rebounds and tied a career high with seven assists for the Jazz, who capitalized on the Thunder's 24 turnovers. Kevin Durant had 29 points and 10 rebounds and Russell Westbrook had 20 points but the Thunder couldn't rally after falling behind in the second quarter. "We didn't do a good job matching their physical play. We needed to play hard,'' Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said. "We turned it over too many times and it was because they were physical with us.'' Last time the teams met, the Thunder beat the Jazz 114-93, for the first of five wins in seven games for Oklahoma City - its best span of the season. "We owed them one,'' Williams said. On Friday night, the Jazz stretched their lead to 24 after Mehmet Okur's 3-pointer in the middle of the third quarter but the Thunder whittled the lead back to 13 behind Durant's shooting. Williams doused any comeback hopes with a scintillating stretch in the fourth quarter. First, he beat the shot clock with a 26-footer and then got a steal on the other end. After a free throw, he gathered another deflection and tossed a perfect alley-oop to Ronnie Brewer for a dunk. The Jazz then led 109-88 and Williams and the starters took a seat on the bench. "We're a good team when we pass the ball, share it and make extra passes. Thats what happened tonight. There were a lot of guys passing on good shots to get better ones,'' said Williams, who made 9-of-13 shots, including three 3-pointers, and had four of Utahs 12 steals.

Brandon Roy scored 30 points to lead the Trail Blazers to their fourth straight victory, 122-108 over the Jazz on Saturday night. Nicolas Batum made four 3-pointers and had 16 points, and Joel Przybilla added 14 points and 17 rebounds as all 12 players scored for Portland, with six reaching double figures. The Trail Blazers shot 56 percent from the field (43-for-77) and finished with 28 assists. "I thought we were as efficient as we could be,'' Portland coach Nate McMillan said. "Overall, we just did a good job of playing a physical game against a team that has given us trouble in the past with its physical game.'' Roy, selected as a reserve for the Western Conference All-Star team on Thursday, shot 11-for-19 from the field while reaching 30 points for the seventh time this season. LaMarcus Aldridge also scored 14 points, Rudy Fernandez had 13, and Travis Outlaw 11. The Trail Blazers pulled 1 1/2 games behind first-place Denver in the Pacific Division and handed Utah its sixth loss in eight games. "It didn't make any difference what we were trying to do defensively,'' Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "They scored and took advantage of us. They were terrific. We never got close to guarding them. Guys were confused. It was really a nightmare.'' Deron Williams scored a season-high 35 points on 12-for-18 shooting for the Jazz, who were 54 percent from the field. Mehmet Okur had 18 points and seven rebounds. "Bottom line, we've got to stop being so soft as a team,'' Williams said. "Teams push us around, and we don't push back. We're lying down and letting them walk all over us.'' Utah was playing without starting forwards Andrei Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer. Kirilenko underwent surgery on his right ankle Friday and is expected to miss four weeks. Boozer, the team's leading scorer at 20.5 points per game, has been out since mid-November due to an injured left knee but is projected to return after the All-Star break.

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) The Utah Jazz are getting used to playing with injuries. Now they need to continue winning in spite of them. The Jazz rallied from a sluggish start to beat the Charlotte Hornets 105-86 on Monday night, overcoming yet another injury to one of their key players. Point guard Deron Williams sat out with a contusion above his right knee, joining forwards Carlos Boozer (knee) and Andrei Kirilenko (ankle) on the inactive list. "We've got to be used to it. We've lost a lot of games due to injury,'' said Brevin Knight, who had seven assists as he and Ronnie Price stepped in for Williams. Jazz players have missed 131 games because of injury or illness - 86 more than all of last season. Ronnie Brewer scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half and Mehmet Okur scored 22 despite being in foul trouble most of the night. Paul Millsap scored 14 and Price finished with 12 points as four Utah starters scored in double figures. Matt Harpring added 10 points and Kyle Korver pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Jazz, who after losing six of eight could not afford to get swept by the Bobcats this season. "You never know what to expect with as many guys as we have out,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "We had to have a lot of guys play well in order for us to win.''

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) As a kid growing up in Dallas, Deron Williams used to watch Jason Kidd run the floor for the Mavericks. Now a star with the Utah Jazz, Williams wouldn't miss the chance to show Kidd how his own career is coming along. "I love playing against them, but more than that, we really just needed a win right now, so I came out and gave it all I could,'' said Williams, who shook off a deep thigh bruise and scored 34 points and handed out 12 assists to lead the Jazz to a 115-87 rout Thursday night. "Deron's had a lot of big games against Dallas,'' teammate Kyle Korver said. "Maybe because he's from there, he really gets up to show then his stuff. He was attacking the basket, pushing the ball, finding all of us. He was doing it all.'' Korver scored a season-high 20 points in his first start of the season, Ronnie Brewer scored 17 and Mehmet Okur added 16 points and 13 rebounds to power the Jazz to their third win in four games. "We got stops, so we could get out and run,'' said Korver, who replaced bronchitis-ridden C.J. Miles. "As a shooter, that's when you get the good looks and I had a lot of them tonight.'' Josh Howard led Dallas with 18 points and Dirk Nowitzki scored 14 - needing 20 attempts to get there - but the Mavericks saw their four-game winning streak end. It was Dallas' first loss since coach Rick Carlisle put Jason Kidd in charge of calling plays. "It was a butt-whipping and I'm not going to make any excuses,'' Carlisle said. "They played great and we just did not. They play well here. That's been evident for two decades.'' Playing against boyhood idol in Kidd, Williams lacked some off his explosiveness to the basket, but his shooting accuracy and playmaking ability was the difference. "It's still a little swollen, but my knee is stable and the doc said it was good to go,'' Williams said. "I felt ready, right from the start.'' Williams, who made five 3-pointers and got a technical for arguing a non-call on a possible sixth, repeatedly beat Kidd to get into the lane and sped past him on fast breaks. On one play in the third quarter, Williams had a crossover dribble drive that left Jason Terry sprawled on the floor to the delight of the crowd. "When he's dropping 3-point shots, you can't lay off him and guard his drives,'' Brewer said. "He's almost unstoppable when he's hot like that.''

When the Kings surged back, Williams took charge in the final minute for a remarkable victory. Williams scored 34 points on a badly bruised thigh and hit the go-ahead layup with 20.2 seconds to play, leading the Jazz to a 111-107 victory over the Kings on Friday night. Williams' poise - and a couple of beneficial calls, he acknowledged - in the closing seconds helped the Jazz ruin the Kings' upset attempt in front of Sacramento's first sellout crowd of its dismal season. While the Kings slipped out of the locker room to watch the halftime ceremony, the Jazz were at work with coach Jerry Sloan. "I just sat back here, right on this chair, and got my legs ready to go,'' Williams said from his postgame perch in front of his locker. "Our energy picked up in the second half. Right now, I've got to step up for my team like that. I felt like I let them down a little bit when I came back, and now I've got to be more aggressive and more assertive.'' Mehmet Okur added 28 points and 11 rebounds for Utah, which won its third straight after erasing a 10-point halftime deficit. Kevin Martin scored 19 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter, putting the Kings ahead 105-102 with 55 seconds left with two free throws and a driving layup on consecutive possessions. And when the Jazz get stuck in the rut that trapped them in that same 24 minutes, it's difficult to imagine how they'll stay in the playoff race without injured stars Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko. Corey Maggette scored 24 points and Stephen Jackson had 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in the Warriors' latest impressive home victory, 116-96 on Sunday night. Kelenna Azubuike scored 16 points and C.J. Watson added 14 for the Warriors, who routed Phoenix four days earlier in Oakland behind Jackson's first career triple-double. Coach Don Nelson had nothing to say about the rumors of Golden State's interest in a trade for the Suns' Amare Stoudemire, but he had remarkably unqualified praise for his youthful roster. "We played a really good game when we moved the ball and did a lot of good things defensively,'' said Nelson, whose club committed a season-low eight turnovers. "I thought we were pretty good. Guys that I needed to step up, stepped up.'' With Jackson again catalyzing the Warriors on both ends of the court, Golden State rolled past the Jazz with a 38-point third quarter and a strong finish, eventually going ahead by 25 in the waning minutes. SALT LAKE CITY(AP) With some time to rest approaching, Deron Williams was determined to leave all his energy on the court. Williams had 31 points and 11 assists and the Utah Jazz snapped the Los Angeles Lakers' seven-game winning streak with a 113-109 victory Wednesday night. The Jazz star point guard didn't make the All-Star team, so he'll get a few days to rest as the league takes a break to party in Phoenix this weekend. In his final performance before the break, Williams helped the Jazz overcome a 37-point effort by Kobe Bryant. "It was a big game for us. We battled hard all night on both ends of the floor. We knew Kobe was going to hit some shots but we just kept fighting and we executed at the end there,'' Williams said. Mehmet Okur scored 22 points, CJ Miles had 17 and Ronnie Brewer added 16 to give the injury-plagued Jazz their fourth win in the last five games. "It was a playoff type of game, very physical. Especially in the last four minutes or so nothing was going to be easy,'' Okur said. Lamar Odom had 19 points and 19 rebounds, but the Lakers allowed the Jazz to shoot a season-high 58.6 percent. "We just didn't play well defensively. We didn't play hard enough on defense. We played lazy. They got a lot of points in the paint and some of that may be tired legs,'' Bryant said. The Jazz didn't score from the field and made 2-for-8 from the line in a nearly four-minute stretch in the fourth quarter to give the Lakers a last gasp. "Missing those free throws looked like it was going to be our Achilles' heel,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. Odom and Bryant combined for 10 points and Bryant's 3-pointer gave the Lakers their first lead of the fourth quarter, 105-104, at the 1:36 mark. Sandwiched around Bryant's steal and layup, Paul Millsap made a three-point play for Utah and Okur hit a three-pointer to put Utah up, 110-107. Williams made 3-of-6 free throws in the last 25 seconds while Derek Fisher missed two 3-point attempts and Bryant misfired once to clinch the Jazz win.

Kirilenko returns to spark Jazz over Grizzlies

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Andrei Kirilenko was so exhausted he didn't know if he had the energy to celebrate his 28th birthday. "I am so tired,'' Kirilenko said after a deep sigh. "But today is a triple joy. I came back from my injury, we win and I have a birthday.'' Kirilenko returned from an ankle injury to spark a key fourth-quarter run and help the Utah Jazz beat the Memphis Grizzlies 117-99 Tuesday night. C.J. Miles scored 24 points and Deron Williams had 20 points and 15 assists. "No pain in my ankle at all but I had pain trying to breathe,'' Kirilenko said. "I felt I couldn't catch my breath. I was expecting a little less time but I felt pretty good in my play.'' The Russian forward had surgery Jan. 30 to remove bone fragments from his injured right ankle and returned a couple weeks ahead of schedule to spark the Jazz, who won the fifth game in their last six and are eighth in the Western Conference. "He made a big steal and then on the other end he had a big basket and then blocked a couple shots. That's something we missed when he's not around,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. Clinging to a four-point lead in the fourth quarter, Kirilenko had three baskets, two steals and a block in a game-breaking 20-4 run that put Utah up 110-90 with 3:43 left to play. "I almost fell down on that last steal and I thought if I fall down now, I might not be able to get up. I was so tired but it was pretty important to have that stretch in the fourth quarter where we kept getting our hands on the ball,'' Kirilenko said. Despite his third straight double-double, Williams' five-game streak of brilliant shooting came to an end. Williams was the first guard since Michael Jordan in November 1996 to score more than 30 points on better than 50 percent shooting for five consecutive games. He shot 7-of-18 against Memphis. "It was fun,'' Michael Conley said of his matchup with Williams. "Deron is one of the best point guards in the league and a guy I look up to and try to learn as much as I can from him.'' The Jazz played without starting center Mehmet Okur, who felt sick at the shootaround and did not return to the arena for the game. Miles tried to pick up the slack. "Hitting those shots and creating some offense is what I have been trying to do. I want to be the spark that gets us going especially when we were missing Memo's shooting from the perimeter,'' Miles said, after falling just one point short of his season high. The Grizzlies hung with Utah until fading in the fourth and actually led 43-36 after Gay's dunk midway through the second quarter. The Jazz had five turnovers and five fouls at that point in the quarter to go along with 1-of-10 shooting and three points. "We were so sloppy and they outhustled us all over the court in the second quarter,'' Miles said about the Grizzlies' 18-3 run. But Williams rallied the Jazz to a 56-all tie at halftime and the Jazz never trailed again. Ronnie Brewer scored 17 of his 19 points in the first two quarters to help the Jazz keep pace. The Grizzlies outrebounded the Jazz, 41-37, and had more points in the paint but could not overcome their 19 turnovers which led to 26 Jazz points. Many of the miscues come with Kirilenko's defense and long arms interrupting the Memphis offense.

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Utah coach Jerry Sloan was uncharacteristically complimentary of his team after the Jazz beat the Celtics 90-85. Utah did it with the kind of style the coach just loves - nasty. "They put a body on you. They knock you around,'' Sloan said of the defending NBA champion. "Our guys, sometimes we want to play in a tuxedo. And when you're playing against those guys, you better get it off and get ready to get nasty.'' The Jazz did just that. Utah outscored Boston 30-19 in the fourth quarter, going 12-for-17 from the floor as the Celtics played without All-Star forward Kevin Garnett, who strained his right knee late in the second quarter and did not return. Garnett warmed up before the second half, but the Celtics kept him out as a precaution. Garnett released a statement after the game, saying he would have the knee re-examined on Friday. "We should have more information at that time. Obviously, I would much rather be playing instead of giving this statement,'' Garnett said. Boston led by 11 in the third quarter, but couldn't hold off the Jazz at the end. The Celtics hurt themselves with 19 turnovers and were 19-for-29 from the foul line. "I think our defense was great and gave us a chance to win the game,'' Boston coach Doc Rivers said. "It really came down to free throws by us and turnovers. We make our free throws, we win the game. And we if we don't turn the ball over, we win the game.'' Deron Williams had 18 points and 10 assists, Mehmet Okur scored 19 and Matt Harpring added eight points off the bench, including a tie-breaking jumper with 1:01 left to play that put Utah up for good. "This was a grind-it-out defensive game tonight,'' Williams said. "We battled with them all night. It's a great win for our team.'' Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 20 points, but was pestered down the stretch by Harpring's defense. Harpring drew an offensive foul on the Celtics' star and helped hold him to 2-of-9 shooting in the fourth quarter. "I love doing that. This is why you play the game of basketball - for times like this,'' Harpring said.

Larry H. Miller, who parlayed a handful of successful automobile dealerships into a business and sporting empire that included ownership of the Utah Jazz and EnergySolutions Arena, died Friday of complications related to diabetes.
Miller's health had been failing since last summer, when he suffered a major heart attack. He had double lower-leg amputation surgery last month to stem the diabetes complications, but soon battled more health issues. He was 64 years old.

Although the Jazz never won an NBA championship, Miller's team reached the Finals in 1997 and 1998. The Jazz also played host to the 1993 NBA All-Star Game, which was played in the then-Delta Center, which Miller built and opened in 1991 at a cost of $66 million.
The list of Miller-owned businesses also includes the Salt Lake Bees of the Pacific Coast League, Miller MotorSports Park in Tooele, Fanzz retail stores, KJZZ television, Prestige Financial, Jordan Commons business and entertainment center and the Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theaters.

爵士队老板拉里·H·米勒今日因二型糖尿病并发症去世，享年64岁。


爵士队说米勒是在家中去世的，当时家人都陪伴在其身边。


最近米勒一直受病魔折磨，上个月他刚接受截肢手术。





米勒于1985年购买了爵士队50%的股份，1986年又买下另外50%的股份帮把该队主场设在盐湖城，他最近23年来一直担任爵士队老板。米勒是盐湖城知名商人，拥有39家汽车店和几家电影院。


米勒有4个儿子，1个女儿和21个孙辈。

爵士老板拉里-米勒日前不幸辞世，对于爵士阵营而言，比赛意义很是明确。首节前段双方均势胶着，一路战至11平。德隆-威廉姆斯与布鲁尔此后带动爵士建立优势，首节中段，爵士又把握黄蜂一波7投1中的低迷期将优势扩大；至1分11秒米尔萨普上篮后，爵士已26-17领先。此后保罗虽连得4分，单节“蜂王”就得到12分，但首节结束时爵士依然是28-21领先。


奥库发力 爵士半场领先两位数

次节前段爵士又形成发力，基里连科跳投、灌篮连续表现，至9分44秒奥库上篮得分后，爵士36-25取得两位数优势。奥库此后又连续送出中远投，加之德隆-威廉姆斯的砍分，爵士将领先优势扩大到15分。


次节中段，黄蜂虽有连续4波攻势涨分的高效表现，但哈普林与科沃尔同样保证爵士涨分。直到拉苏尔-巴特勒和詹姆斯-波西连续两回合命中三分球，黄蜂方将分差缩小到10分，半场时爵士61-51领先。


高效对峙 黄蜂反扑再遭打压

“高效”特色在第三节前段异常醒目--爵士前6次攻势5次涨分，奥库与迈尔斯还分别命中三分球；黄蜂势头更猛，11次出手命中了9球！斯托亚科维奇与巴特勒也均是命中三分球，利用“持续热度”，黄蜂完成11-0攻势，5分46秒追分至71-73。


在布鲁尔与基里连科为爵士涨分后，黄蜂又在巴特勒三分球带动下追分至76-78。但爵士意志力了得，米尔萨普在手部挂彩情况下依然拼力确保球权，德隆-威廉姆斯连送助攻，科沃尔中远投引出7-0攻势，三节结束爵士84-76领先。


德隆奥库携手定胜局

前三节，爵士命中率55％，黄蜂53％。进入末节双方似有疲惫，命中率急剧降低，前5分半钟内黄蜂得到4分，爵士只得到2分。末节中段德隆-威廉姆斯突然发力，中远投连得5分，爵士重建两位数优势；5分33秒，德隆再策应奥库突破上篮，爵士93-80领先。


黄蜂涨分困难，防奥库也成难题，土耳其人此后又连送中远投，确保爵士两位数优势。比赛结束前1分半钟，保罗冲篮被基里连科封盖，黄蜂的反扑就此戛然而止。最终爵士102-88奏凯。

据《盐湖城论坛报》报道，爵士队全明星大前锋卡洛斯-布泽尔即将复出，如不出意外，他将以首发的身份出战美国时间今晚爵士对老鹰的比赛。

布泽尔是在11月19日的比赛中左膝受伤的，他在1月9日做了手术后一直恢复至今。在过去的三个月中，他缺席了44场常规赛。

在战胜黄蜂队后，爵士主帅斯隆给全队放了一天假，不过布泽尔除外。斯隆对他受伤的膝盖做了最后一次测试性训练以确定他是否可以复出。

“我只能尽可能依据我的经验来帮助他准备好复出，我希望他可以打得很出色。”斯隆说。

而布泽尔本人也特别期望能重新回到球场上，“如果情况好的话，今晚我就上场。”而伴随着布泽尔的复出，这也是爵士队本赛季第一次无人缺席比赛。

进入2月份以来，爵士队连克凯尔特人、湖人和黄蜂，并取得了8胜1负的佳绩，目前据西部第四开拓者也只有2.5场的差距，而布泽尔复出后，爵士队有望加快追赶的步伐。对此，布泽尔也表示出乐观。

“虽然之前的比赛我们有所起伏”，布泽尔说，“不过我们在过去的4场比赛中打败了三支联盟顶级强队，我们克服了很多问题，比如有时侯球员在全明星赛后准备不足，状态不佳，但是我们都准备好了。” “我认为我们正处于一个很好的位置，还剩下26场比赛，我们要继续努力取得好名次。”布泽尔最后补充道。

考虑到布泽尔刚刚复出，爵士队将只能给他每节5分钟的出场时间。
