最近,我在思考为何 Airasia 只有马来西亚的公司赚钱,而在泰国和印尼却亏钱。
我发觉,其中一个原因是在飞机的分配上。(当然还有其它因素)。
请看它们的飞机组合:
AirAsia : Airbus 32架, Boeing 10 架。
Thai AirAsia : Airbus 3架,Boeing 13架。
Indonesia AirAsia : Airbus 0架, Boeing 10架。
明显,Tony 把残旧的 Boeing 推给 Thai AirAsia 和 Indonesia AirAsia。而省油的新飞机(Airbus)都留给自己用。 |

Asian budget airlines seen weathering slowdown

SINGAPORE: Asia's budget airlines are likely to hold up because of their lower overheads should the global economy stall, industry players said yesterday.
A severe US housing slump and mortgage crisis sparked fears of a likely US recession spreading to the rest of the world, and on Monday led to a global stock market plunge which continued yesterday.
"What happened yesterday (Monday) I think was a rush into fear territory," said Peter Harbison, executive chairman of the Sydney-based Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation consultancy.
But Harbison said he remains upbeat that Asia's budget carriers should be able to weather the conditions ahead.
"There is a lot of potential," Harbison said at the Asia Pacific Low-Cost Airline Congress, a regional industry gathering.
"Those low-cost airlines should be more resilient to prosper even in difficult times like these," he said.
Southeast Asia's low-cost sector has boomed since the birth of Malaysia-based AirAsia, almost six years ago, spawned a host of imitators.
Tony Davis, chief executive of Singapore-based budget carrier Tiger Airways, was also confident the industry would ride out a widely-expected global slowdown.
"People are talking about a recession but I do honestly think low-cost airlines generally do better in those conditions particularly if a reduction in demand means that oil prices go down as well," said Davis, who spoke at the conference.
"People still want to travel. They still want their holidays. They are not willing to sacrifice lifestyle just because they are worried about expenditure, so they are more likely to go to our model," he said.
Oil prices hit a record US$100 (RM328) a barrel early in January but have since eased about 12 per cent on worries US energy demand would slow as the economy weakens. - AFP

注(1):这是旧资料,其成本是已经扣除了燃油附加费(fuel-surcharge)的。
注(2):燃料成本可从上图数据中计算而得。即 cost 减掉 non fuel cost。 |

在 2002~2006 这其间,石油价格上涨了超过100%,而 airasia 的燃油成本却没有很大的变化。
我觉得,其中主要有三个重要的原因:
1。新的飞机比较 fuel effective,
2。成功的燃油护盘策略。
3。这其间,airasia 的平均航程(stage length)提高了。(较长的航程有助于降低 fuel cost per ASK)

根据历史数据,石油价格上涨没有对airasia的赚幅造成极大的影响。
所以,我真不明白 Tony 为什么要投机油价。。。
乖乖的做护盘不就好了吗?
虽然说,以往的成绩不保证以后的成功。
但,对于 airasia 抵抗油价高涨的能力,我是很有信心的。 |

必须补充的是,以上三项中:
第1 项因素,对今天的大马airasia来说,影响已很小了。
但对 Thai AirAsia 和 Indonesia AirAsia 的未来发展仍是影响重大。
第 3 项因素,今天已不存在了。
第2 项因素,今后还能不能发挥,我就不太确定。 |

中国航线开了过后,很多旅行社为了便宜,就会选择airasia...
这个庞大的中国市场。。。airasia应该受益不小。。。。
不过,airasia的飞机师。。技术怕怕。。 |

亚航开了KL-SINGAPORE航线( 垄断了几十年的航线)
最新亚航X也开了杭州航线
加上政府也给与亚航支持,把KL 打造成廉价航空中心
加上新的AIRBUS陆续的抵达, 亚航的航线越来越多
原油价也回跌了
亚航的前景我觉得是乐观的. |

对了,上一楼的图中有一句话:"we are the lowest cost LCC in the world"。
这是AirAsia 的管理层说的,我还没有对它进行 double check。
有兴趣的话,大家不妨去找一找,看有没有其它 third party 的资料可以支持/反对这一点。 |
