8 -- Mourinho picked a good starting XI and didn't give up on getting a win, throwing Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford on to add pace to United's attack. When Ibrahimovic went through a dry patch in front of goal, plenty were calling for Mourinho to drop him, yet he stuck with the striker, who has scored eight goals in his last eight games.
Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)
GK David de Gea, 7 -- Had nothing to do until the hour mark, when McArthur struck a brilliant attempt that was going in to the top corner until De Gea got his fingertips to it.
DF Eric Bailly, 7 -- Was finally substituted having struggled with his knee all evening, which wasn't helped by the kick he received to it. He wasn't required to do much defensively but made a couple of great runs as an overlapping right-back.
DF Phil Jones, 6 -- Jones' performance was largely good but he was embarrassed by the Delaney flick in the lead-up to Palace's equaliser.
DF Marcos Rojo, 6 -- After getting away with a two-footed challenge against Everton, he was wreckless again when going in on Wilfried Zaha with two feet. Palace didn't pose much of a threat but Rojo coped with anything thrown his way.
DF Daley Blind, 7 -- Blind adds to United's attack as much as the defence. He brought composure to the team but also recovered possession so often.
MF Ander Herrera, 7 -- Showed his usual energy, winning the ball back for United so many times, and set off his teammates on the attack. He had several wayward shots though which was wasteful.
MF Michael Carrick, 7 -- Played several great passes forward, especially one which lead to volley from Pogba that the goalkeeper did well to save. Got a crucial toe to the ball when Palace threatened to break. Completed more passes than anyone on the pitch.
FW Juan Mata, 6 -- Given a chance in Mkhitaryan's absence and had a fairly quiet game. He had a goal controversially disallowed for offside though.
FW Wayne Rooney, 5 -- Had a good effort on goal after Pogba played him in then had a great chance to put United 2-1 ahead when Darmian crossed but he scuffed it. Replaced with 10 minutes to play but probably should have gone off earlier.
FW Paul Pogba, 8 -- Pogba was central to so much of United's play. He scored the opener before playing a brilliant ball through to Ibrahimovic to go 2-1 up. He should have had another assist too when he played a great pass over Palace's defence to set up Rooney. He did well defensively on set pieces as well.
ST Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 8 -- Ibrahimovic set up United's opener even if the ball did brush off his arm as he tried to chest into Pogba's path. With United chasing the winner, he played a lovely flick forward to Lingard whose shot was saved. Then, with minutes remaining, he ran on to a great pass from Pogba to give United the three points.
