Former World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane has voiced his disappointment with France's shock 2-0 World Cup defeat at the hands of Mexico.
Les Bleus are on the verge of exiting the World Cup at the group stage after Thursday's defeat to Mexico left them three points behind El Tri and Uruguay in Group A.
And Zidane, who inspired France to win the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000, did not hide his frustration after the match.
"I am sorry for France, because the team could not create a single chance on goal, and that is not enough for those who expect to make something important," he told Televisa.
"France met a very good team, who made a great start. Mexico were superior to France, especially physically. [Last night] the better team won."
The former Juventus and Real Madrid midfielder was also critical of coach Raymond Domenech's decision to leave Bordeaux star Yoann Gourcuff on the bench, saying: "The coach made this decision, but I do not agree with him."
