Dayang surges on Bursa debut

MIRI-based Dayang Enterprise Holdings Bhd made its debut on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia today, recording a premium of 23 sen over its initial public offering (IPO) price of RM1.45.
“It’s quite a milestone to be the first oil and gas services company from Sarawak to be listed on the stock exchange, joining 635 other companies on the Main Board,” said Dayang’s managing director Tengku Yusof Tengku Ahmad Shahruddin.
He said the listing exercise saw Dayang raised RM124.5 million, with RM51.45 million of the proceeds to be used to partly finance the company's new vessel and purchase of new machinery and equipment.
The rest of the proceeds, about RM60 million, would be used to fully redeem the company's Islamic medium term notes, he added.
Tengku Yusof said the company had increased its total contracts tendered up to RM800 million from RM595 million as at March 31 this year.
“We recently tendered for a topside works contract with a major oil company worth some RM200 million. If secured, the contract will further boost Dayang's bottom line,” he said.
Dayang, which counts Petronas Carigali, Sarawak Shell, Sabah Shell, ExxonMobil and US-based Murphy Oil as among its clients, has to date completed contracts totalling RM934 million. The company has an order book worth about RM627 million which will keep it busy for the next three years.
Recently, Dayang saw its public spread of 17.6 million shares oversubscribed by 8.39 times.
The flotation will see the company having a market capitalisation of RM510.4 million, based on the offer price and enlarged issued and paid-up share capital of 352 million shares.
In the second quarter 2008 financial results, the company's net profit rose by 184 per cent to RM36.6 million from RM12.9 million previously while revenue went up 27.7 percent to RM52.9 million from RM41.4 million.
The rise in both revenue and profit was attributed by Dayang to the increase in works for offshore topside maintenance services where the company was currently servicing 309 platforms in Malaysia as well as workforce efficiency. — Bernama
