Rosicky is Arsenal.com's Player of the Month
Tomas Rosicky has been named as Arsenal.com's Player of the Month for February, receiving 23.09 per cent of the votes cast in our official poll.
The highlight of Rosicky's month was his first Premiership goal - the winner in a 2-1 victory over Wigan at Emirates Stadium. After Denny Landzaat had fired a fantastic opener for the visitors, Fitz Hall put through his own net to level the scores with just nine minutes remaining. There was still time however for the Czech midfielder to meet a Julio Baptista cross with a powerful header to complete another amazing Arsenal comeback.
The 26-year-old also starred in the 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough and helped the Gunners progress to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 replay victory at Bolton's Reebok Stadium.
Despite his best efforts the Czech international couldn't prevent a goalless draw in the next round against Blackburn at Emirates Stadium and was then rested when a youthful Gunners side were knocked out in the replay at Ewood Park.
In the Champions League he played 69 minutes of the 1-0 defeat to PSV Eindhoven while in the Carling Cup Final he was rested to make way for Arsène Wenger's young Gunners.
One of those Carling Cup youngsters, Denilson, finished second in our February poll after a string of outstanding displays which suggest he is yet another quality capture by Arsenal's manager. The 19-year-old Brazilian grew in stature throughout the Carling Cup competition and didn't deserve to be on the losing side after an assured 90 minutes in the Final.
Cesc Fabregas claimed third place after another consistent month in midfield. The Spaniard was particularly impressive against Chelsea in Cardiff.

Arsenal supporter Daniel Parker from Canvey Island in Essex will present Tomas with his award before the game against Reading on Saturday, March 3.

Rosicky content with squad
Tomas Rosicky insisted that the lack of new signings in the Arsenal squad will be an advantage in the upcoming season.
Following the departure of Thierry Henry and Jeremie Aliádíère and new signing from Dinamo Zagreb Eduardo da Silva, the majority of the first eleven of the squad has remained unchanged so far.
Rosicky believes this lack of change will help the team, to maintain its consistency.
"Of course, I know that Thierry Henry has left the club and that Eduardo has come in," he told his official website.
"Nevertheless, most of the players have remained and it is good news ahead of the new season.
"In the last season, our young team has been trying to reach the same tune.
"In the new season, we can move a step higher and profit from the previous one." |
