January19, 2010 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Sirim Berhadto establish a partnership to develop the necessary testing technologyand safety approval standards for the medium to high power lithiumbased battery for various industry applications eg, solar, electricvehicles and other applications in the domestic as well asinternational markets. (“ETI”), a wholly owned subsidiary ofETI Tech Corporation Bhd. listed on the ACE market of Bursa Malaysia,has on 19 January 2010 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”)with Sirim Berhad to establish a partnership to develop the necessarytesting technology and safety approval standards for the medium to highpower lithium based battery for various industry applications eg,solar, electric vehicles and other applications in the domestic as wellas international markets. Bothparties have entered into the MOU after having recognized andconsidered mutual interests and benefits of strengthening technicalcooperation in defined areas and within a framework to promotetechnological excellence. ETIrecently made its mark to become the first company to introduceLithium-based battery, replacing the conventional lead-based battery,in the Solar Home System starting in Tenom, Sabah. “TheGreen Solar Battery is lead-free and its components considered to beenvironmentally-friendly.” said YK Khor, Chief Technology Officer ofETI. ETI’sGreen Solar Battery offers cost advantages in terms of the reducednumber of costly solar panels required, when compared to a conventionalsolar home system.
ETI’s research team haddesigned the technologically advanced battery to provide a highercharging efficiency and energy storage density in a more compact andlight weight form resulting in reduced
logistics and set up costs, which adds to the cost advantages. “Mostimportantly, by applying ETI’s Lithium-based Green Solar Battery, itdrastically reduces the energy wastage found in conventional lead-acidbased solar systems.” said YK Khor. Withthe successful introduction of the Mini Solar Home System and GreenSolar Battery technology in the state of Sabah, ETI aims to contributepositively towards development in the state by providing a speedy andcost effective solution to the problems of electrification of homes inremote areas faced by the state.
